The Squadron Sponsoring Committee represents the civilian side of the Air Cadet Program, which works alongside the Canadian Forces to support 715 Mohawk Squadron. The SSC is a group of parents/ guardians/civilians who assist in raising funds for training and providing support and other assistance to the Commanding Officer. It operates under by-laws laid out by the Air Cadet League of Canada, including maintaining strict financial controls.
The SSC is required to provide a location for the Squadron, cover operating and administrative expenses, furnish awards and scholarships, and cover other costs not funded by the Department of National Defence. To run 715 Mohawk Squadron, the expenses are roughly $50,000 per year, before any trips or extra activities for the Cadets!
